About Miss Gail

Hi, I’m Miss Gail. I am a grandmother and a kindergarten enrichment teacher. I put grandmother first because a grandmother has the best of both worlds. She can teach her grands the world of science, life, art, and compassion, and then get the benefit of seeing her own handiwork as the kids grow up.  Starting by teaching when the child is a toddler or even an infant  can help make them smarter, increase their interest in the world around them, improve their dexterity, and sharpen their inquisitiveness.  Making learning fun is the greatest gift one can give to a child, and a grandparent, parent and teacher can make the biggest difference in a child’s life.

In this blog I will tell you how I use science to excite children so that they want to learn, and to expand their thirst for knowledge.  I try to show kids how to look beyond the ‘acceptance’ method that schools too-often call  teaching.  I want children to question how and why things happen, to think how they can do it themselves, and to find easier ways to accomplish it for themselves.  I want them to think and do, explore all possibilities, and to question what is the best way to accomplish any given task. I explain that they should not get discouraged by a project failing.  All scientists and artists have failures but keep trying to find the answers.  I also tell them that sometimes, when something comes out wrong, it can lead to something even better, so keep trying..  As you shall see, I am always telling the kids I am lazy and I am not going to do everything for them—‘Figure it out yourself!’ is one of my favorite expressions.

As we progress with our teaching you will see for yourself ways that are easier and more fun than desk-bound teaching to get children to learn.  The modern term for what I do is ‘Differentiated Instruction'.  It is a fun and painless method for children to gain knowledge  and soooo much more fun for the teacher or parent . Nothing is greater than the squeals of children being excited about what they are learning and discovering.
